Don’t forget about our service to the community by bringing food (canned or package) for the Good Samaritan Food Bank of North Portland. Look for the huge barrel in the foyer and deposit much needed food into it. We will take it to the food bank. If you have any questions, contact the church office at 503-286-0613.
We received the following letter from Al Rieke, Treasurer of the Good Samaritan Food Bank of North Portland. “Thank you for your generous support during 2009. You helped us prepare 1,624 food boxes for 5,384 people. Thanks to generous donations of food and time, our expenses were just $17,974.36 and our case donations totaled $16,270.95. Thanks to 2008 donations we still have a cash balance to carry over into 2010, which will help us get through the usually thin income months at the first of the year. Your continuing generous support will assure that we can achieve this budget.
In addition to the ongoing need for volunteers to staff the center on Monday and Thursday afternoons, we continue to see volunteers to serve on the center’s Board of Directors. If you or someone in your congregation or organization is interested, please contact Al Rieke, 503-231-0009.
Thank you again for your support in 2009 and for your continuing support in 2010.”
